PTO TRAINING COURSE RESCHEDULED

 A 40-Hour Reno Model Police Training Officer (PTO) course was scheduled to be held the week of June 21^st-25^th in Ames, Iowa.  However, some agencies expressed concern due to the lack of funding at the end of the current fiscal year.  The training has therefore been rescheduled and will now be held the week of July 26^th through the 30^th on the Iowa State University campus in Ames, IA.  The PTO training model focuses on Adult Learning Principles and Problem Based Learning for training new officers.  Dave Ponte of the Hoover Group of Reno will be the course presenter.

David Ponte was the original PTO Coordinator for the Reno Police Department's training program.  Dave has been with the Reno Police Department for more than twenty years.  He is one of the original designers of the Reno Model and was responsible for much of the original test site training.  Dave is one of the few people in law enforcement with program coordinator experience in both the San Jose and Reno Models.  Dave has an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice and has completed training on the Harvard model of leadership conducted by Marty Linsky.  He is also a graduate of Peter Senge's Fifth Discipline program at MIT.

 Register by June 18^th to take advantage of the discounted rate of $350. After June 18^th the registration fee is $450. The last day to register is Friday, June 25^th, 2010. The fee includes all course materials. Space is limited to the first 25 registrants.  Those who have registered will be notified of cancellation if the class is not filled.  Payment is due no later than the first day of class. Make checks payable to Iowa State University.
